FAQs
I’ve never been to therapy before, what is it like?
Does therapy work?
Most people benefit and see their lives improve with therapy, but it is not guaranteed. If I determine that the type of therapy I provide will not be helpful for you, I will let you know, and provide you with referral alternatives.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions last 55-85 minutes.
How long does therapy last?
It varies from person to person. Some people will see improvement in just a few sessions, and find that is all they need from the experience. Clients working through traumatic childhood memories may need ongoing, consistent sessions to get to a level of stability. Others see therapy as a resource they can use throughout life, with frequency of sessions varying depending on their current life needs and stressors. It is up to the individual to decide how much time and energy he or she wants to invest in the therapy process.
What if I am already on medication or think I might need medication to help with my problems?
It’s fine if you’re on medication, and I will collaborate with your medical provider if necessary. If it appears medication may be helpful to you, I can refer you to a qualified medical professional in the community for an evaluation.
Do you have evening appointments?
I currently have limited evening hours available.
What about my religion?
I work with people from all different religious backgrounds. I encourage clients in their own spiritual journey, whatever that may be and do not encourage clients to follow any particular religious practice. If you do not follow a specific religion, that’s okay, too.
What if I am gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered?
Clients from all orientations are welcome.
Do you take insurance?
I am in network with Anthem BC/BS, Aetna, and Sagamore. I will bill your insurance company if you are in network. If I am out of network, I can bill your insurance company or provide you with the documentation you need to file it yourself.
I understand that insurance can be confusing. It is important that you understand your policy and what your policy is required to pay. Please contact your insurance company directly with specific questions. See my Rates and Insurance page with questions for your insurance company.
What if I don’t have insurance?
