Please reach us at ashley@enviscounseling.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
This is a very common question for people new to therapy. Initially, you may be asked to fill out some basic paperwork. We will discuss both client and therapist rights, responsibilities, and confidentiality. During the first session, you will have the opportunity to share information about yourself and the reasons you decided to seek therapy. I will be asking questions about your history and current circumstances. This will help me to form a clear picture of who you are and what your needs are. If additional therapy is recommended, together we will set some preliminary goals to lay the groundwork for future sessions.
Most people benefit and see their lives improve with therapy, but it is not guaranteed. If I determine that the type of therapy I provide will not be helpful for you, I will let you know, and provide you with referral alternatives.
Sessions last 55-85 minutes.
It varies from person to person. Some people will see improvement in just a few sessions, and find that is all they need from the experience. Clients working through traumatic childhood memories may need ongoing, consistent sessions to get to a level of stability. Others see therapy as a resource they can use throughout life, with frequency of sessions varying depending on their current life needs and stressors. It is up to the individual to decide how much time and energy he or she wants to invest in the therapy process.
It’s fine if you’re on medication, and I will collaborate with your medical provider if necessary. If it appears medication may be helpful to you, I can refer you to a qualified medical professional in the community for an evaluation.
I currently have limited evening hours available.
I work with people from all different religious backgrounds. I encourage clients in their own spiritual journey, whatever that may be and do not encourage clients to follow any particular religious practice. If you do not follow a specific religion, that’s okay, too.
Clients from all orientations are welcome.
I am in network with Anthem BC/BS, Aetna, and Sagamore. I will bill your insurance company if you are in network. If I am out of network, I can bill your insurance company or provide you with the documentation you need to file it yourself.
I understand that insurance can be confusing. It is important that you understand your policy and what your policy is required to pay. Please contact your insurance company directly with specific questions. See my Rates and Insurance page with questions for your insurance company.
